How Does Your Audience know you’re a Sustainable business?

5 mistakes you’re probably making (don’t worry we all do!) And how to fix them so your audience connects with you and wants to rave about your company to all their friends!

You have a unique niche by being a sustainable business who makes it a goal to think of the planet in what you do. And your customers should know about this! Nearly 70% of consumers in the U.S. and Canada think it is important that a brand is sustainable or eco-friendly, according to a new study by IBM and the National Retail Federation.

So if customers WANT to find companies that promote this, you want to make sure they know YOU do!

5 easy ways to make sure this is obvious to your audience=

1. Make it clear in your marketing!

If you do all these things to help the planet but no one knows about it then they can’t rave about it to others! Make sure you talk about this to your customers, make them aware.

2. Put it on your website!

Your website is a powerful tool. Most customers will check out your website before ever contacting or purchasing from you, make sure they can find out about all the greatness you do so they feel connected to your company.

3. List it under your benefits.

Customers will usually look for how your service or product benefits them, list your eco friendly benefits there. Let them know that working with you plants trees! Or donates to nonprofit organizations! Etc. This will be an extra push for them to go with you!

4. Create a section dedicated to your Sustainability efforts.

Make it easy to see all your efforts in one place, whether this is a page on your website, or a saved Instagram story, this will let your ideal clients see all the ways you make a difference in one easy place rather then having to go through all your captions or copy to find it.

5. Use keywords!

When trying to find brands that align with our values we’ll typically use keywords to find them (think “sustainability” or “eco-friendly”, etc.). So make sure you are using these in your web copy, your social media post copy, your stories and in your videos. This will help your SEO (Search engine optimization – which is how Google rates your content) and help your tribe find you!

Are you already doing some of these in your marketing? Which could you improve upon? Let me know in the comments below! 😀 And as always, if you have any questions feel free to reach out. Let’s show off that amazing eco business of yours so you can get to changing the world!
